Wow did we just have the best weather ever for the Early May Bank Holiday Weekend or what? The sky was blue, the sun was shining and man was my mood buzzing! I had a whole weekend off work too (I believe the last one until the 28/29 July so only another 12 weeks – who’s counting!) I certainly made the most of it!Friday Night I did my little #fridayfitness with a friend (well you know each in our respective houses but with messages to promise we had worked our butts off. I’ve been using the new Davina McCall Toned in 10 DVD and doing just 30 mins (I will up this as I start to not feel like I’m dying) and this week was Powerbox. Part way through LB snuck down from bed and was so impressed by the fact that mummy was doing some exercise that he wanted to join in. It made me so happy to think that he was proud of me and that I was doing it to make sure that I was fitter and healthier to be a better mum for him. I did however then go get in my pjs and drink a rather glass of gin – did I undo everything?
Saturday saw a full day in the garden. We headed off with a child each before 9am and did a big food shop and a garden centre flower haul. We then spent the day getting the garden summer ready, playing in the paddling pool, chilling out and enjoying our first big BBQ of the year. It was really lovely to spend a day with my boys and not have to worry about clock watching as I needed to be somewhere else later.
On Sunday, I prepped the boys for 24 hours without me with food in their belly, piles of clothes and suncream set out for them and then headed out for a friends hen do in Windsor. We enjoyed a few too many, while enjoying a boat trip along the river (there was a guide telling us about the views but we were too busy drinking Pimm’s and giggling to hear too much. We then went to Browns for Champagne Afternoon Tea, which was beautiful. It was so lovely to be able to eat without little fingers wanting in on the action. It was then back to our hotel to get ready, before playing some classic hen do games, forcing the hen to do shots, giggling at her partners answers to questions and taking lots of photos before heading out for food and drinks at All Bar One and onto some Clubs under the Arches. It was so lovely to surround Clare with love and wish her all the love and luck for her Wedding. Now Roll on August Bank Holiday Weekend.
Monday we enjoyed a fry up and a giggle over the last nights antics-all of us surprisingly not suffering too badly before heading back home to our families. When I pulled up outside our house LB was waiting at our back gate and came running through to see me. His massive smile and the big hug he gave me was just too much. I hadn’t realised quite how much I had missed them. It had been wonderful to have some girlie friends time and enjoy the peace but man is it good to get my babies back in my arms. I crept through to the garden and when P saw me he came running and giggling over and I was so happy to be home. The hubby may have got a bit of a snog too! My mum popped over to see us for a little while before I took LB to a school friends Birthday Party. Then home for another BBQ and getting the kids to bed ready for some chill out time.
I am slightly gutted the weather is supposed to start cooling down this week as this weather has made such a difference to all of our moods. This weekend has been an absolute corker except for the awful news that a friend lost his battle with Cancer on Saturday. We knew it was coming but it hit hard and its just made me feel even more grateful for everything. He was a wonderful man and one I will hold close to my heart and who will inspire me forever.
