#OrdinaryMoments #10 An Adventure

On Friday we had the opportunity to explore what we thought was a shortcut home.
A little alleyway that we would never get the buggy down, but as I had been into Preschool to do some dance with the kids and my mum was home with P,
it was just me and LB on the walk home for once.

At first I thought ‘oh no what have we done’ when it didn’t end up being the shortcut I had assumed and took us into the woods but then I told myself to just go with it and we had a wonderful hour exploring!

Now LB has a tendency to moan when it comes to walking but there was not a peep!
We chatted about everything we could see, the birds we could hear, the moss covered stick that could easily have been the snake in his log pile house from the Gruffalo,
the amazing view from the top of the hill, the tree that had fallen, where we might come out at the edge of the woods and how we would sneak into the back garden to surprise Nanny rather than knocking on the front door.

We collected sticks and dug holes in the mud, we squelched through muddy puddles, LB slipped and landed on his hands and knees but he brushed himself off and carried on as we decided which path we should take next.  Its not often LB gets my undivided attention anymore with his little brother needing me for more, so it was truly wonderful to take a step back, hold onto his hand as we chatted, enjoy the wonder in his eyes and not make a big deal of the mess we were both getting into.
