Bedtime is a daily occurrence in every household, that can be beautiful or a complete nightmare! If I am home I am in charge of the whole routine, though B deals with it while I’m at work (4 more weeks and counting).
LB loves a shower with B or a bath himself. He has started washing himself (making himself all shiny like Blaze and the Monster Machines) and makes up his own little games which have us chuckling. Especially his array of bubble beards! LB calls B up from downstairs and they say their goodnights with kisses, cuddles and snuggles and usually a ton of giggles.
I count while LB chooses 2 books. Yes 2 every night! He’d have more if he could. Some of his books he can recite along with me and it’s lovely to hear him so engrossed in the stories and characters.
Once we’ve read his stories he usually tries to give me kisses with his tongue sticking out which makes us chuckle. I tell him I have to come downstairs and look after daddy for a bit but he always asks me to lay with him longer. I have to drag myself away as I could cuddle up all night.
Between us we check on him numerous times throughout the evening and before we sleep and he’s always so peaceful. When you think about how crazy, chatty, active and full of energy he is during the day and then how cute he looks when he’s sleeping. You certainly soak up the peace and quiet!
The last few nights we’ve been trying to wean off the dummy, Something we wondered if we’d ever be able to do. It was never our plan to give him a dummy however here we are 3.5 years later trying to tell him he’s a big boy and doesn’t need it. We have had patches where he has only had it in bed but other times like more recently where you’ll realise he’s gone quiet (never a good thing with a toddler) and see he’s playing but with his dummy in. Luckily it doesn’t seem to have affected his speech or teeth as such but I do remember getting a bit of a telling off at his 2 year check. However last night he was being cheeky and wanted to sleep in our bed so B said ok but only if you don’t have your dummy and he went to sleep, tonight he asked for one and I said oh you don’t need that you were such a big boy last night-so he got a load of cuddly toys and put them up near his pillow and has fallen asleep immediately. I can only hope we continue this way-I was starting to think we were going to have to say the new baby needed them or send them off with Father Christmas on Christmas Eve, but let’s see how we go!
Sweet Dreams my gorgeous boy!
I’m linking up with the lovely mummydaddyme for our ordinary moments.

He sounds like he is doing really well without his dummy bless him. And these are lovely photos, I love them when they are all freshly washed from the bath- there is something about my girls all snuggled up in a towel that makes them feel younger than they are. x

I know they look so sweet and innocent and the fact he keeps asking me to stay and ‘look after him’ just makes my heart break! Night 3 minus dummy was a little eventful but we got there just meant I had to lie with him! I can’t complain x

Beautiful post, bedtimes although ordinary to most people are one of my favourite times with the kids as they live though the stories and share their days.

It can be a really beautiful moment or a complete nightmare where they won’t sleep for hours coming downstairs every 5 mins – ha!! When it’s good it really is great x
