Baby questions

With baby #2 on the way I’ve started thinking about baby’s galore. I’m spotting everything baby related, positive and negative and it’s got my brain ticking over what it was like the first time.

What it felt like when I was pregnant with LB, is this time any different? What the labour was like, remembering him as a newborn and all the little stages he has gone through already.  I saw thEse questions on Facebook and thought as I’ve written nothing about LBs pregnancy/ birth etc (it’s on the to do list), I’d start by answering these simple questions!

All about your first born!👣

1. Was your first pregnancy planned?

Yes very much so! We got married in July 2011 and knew we wanted kids (ok I knew, B said he’d be ready once I was, but he had never really thought about it). When we were on honeymoon in Dec 2011 I held up the last packet of my pill and said right are we doing this? He answered yes, so on Christmas Eve 2011 I started my last packet with the knowledge we would be ‘trying in January’. I found out on 4th June 2012 I was expecting LB.

 2. Were you married?

Yes for almost a year when we found out.

 3. What was your reaction too finding out?

Although we had been trying I think the reality kicked in and I was pretty scared instantly. B however was over the moon-bouncing around everywhere!

 4. Were you induced?

Yes. My waters broke on the friday night but my contractions were few and far between. We were admitted to hospital early Sunday morning but as they were so busy I wasn’t induced until about 11am Monday morning. After getting half way they discovered LB was breach so I had an emergency Caesarian and he was born at 18.43pm on the Monday evening.

 5. How old were you?

I was 29-I had always said I wanted kids before I was 30 and I had LB just over 2 months before my birthday.

6. Who did you first tell?

Apart from my husband it was family first. Our parents and sisters all knew by the next day.

 7. How did you find out?

We had been out at a festival eating caribbean food and drinking rum all day for a friends birthday, but the alcohol wasn’t going down very well (and that says something). So I worked out my period dates roughly and thought it could be a possibility. Funnily enough about two weeks before I had done a test with my sister as I had felt pregnancy synptoms but it had come up negative and I’d put it to the back of my mind. When we got home B said what’s up with you, you’ve been quiet for a few hours, as soon as I told him my suspicions he made me go and do a test immediately, it was about 11pm and I was almost definitely in shock to see a positive!

 8. Did you want to find out the sex?

No. Which surprised everyone and myself as I’m really quite impatient. I just thought you don’t get many surprises in life and I wanted to wait.

 9. Due Date?

3rd February 2013

 10. Did you deliver early or late?

Early. My waters broke 9 days early and I had LB 6 days early on 28th January.

11. Did you have morning sickness?

No I was so lucky.

 12. What did you crave?

Ginger beer.

 13. How many pounds did you gain from your pregnancy?

To be honest I can’t remember correctly but I think it was approx 2.5 stone.

 14. What was the sex of the baby?

A boy.

 15. Did you have any complications during labor?

LB was breach so after being induced and getting half way through naturally I had to have an emergency Caesarian.

16. Where did you give birth?

Stoke Mandeville Hospital Labour Ward.

 17. How many hours were you in labor?

From Friday night waters breaking at approx 11pm to Monday evening 18.43pm. So about 68hrs though obviously not all of that was the hard bit!

18. How much did your baby weigh?

7lb 14.5oz

 19. What did you name him/her?

I don’t use LB’s name on my blog but his initials are BERT.

 20. How old is your first born today?

Today LB is 3yrs 4mths.

Wow it was really quite lovely reminiscing about all of this! I can’t believe we are going to be going through it all again in October and I wouldn’t change it for the world! X
