(Ordinary Moments 15) *No 6* The Big Boy Bed

Welcome to my Ordinary Moments this week……..

The Big Boy Bed

Little B has had one leg over the side of the cot for a while now then last week he worked out how to get the other leg over! Whilst balancing precariously on the edge, not able to get back into the cot and realising it was a long way down, hubby decided the side needed to come off the cot before we ended up spending a night in A&E with a broken limb!

I can’t believe we’re at this point already. Little B turned 2 at the end of January and to be honest I’m still not ready for him to be hitting this next lot of milestones. B loves it, he thinks he gets more fun the older he gets-which I guess is true but I feel like I’m loosing my baby, as there’s so much he already doesn’t need me for.

(watery eyes)

So on Monday night while I was at work B and Little B set to work on taking the side off the cot and making a big deal of the big boy bed!!

Monday-Little B went down ok but got up about 4-5 times before going to sleep! As we live in a flat he can walk straight out and into the living room. B kept saying what are you doing here back to bed and off he went. By the time I got home from work about an hour later he was sparko and I couldn’t believe it.  Then he slept all the way through till 6.45am, when he scared the life out of me by appearing at the bottom of our bed.

Tuesday– Little B only took a couple of re-entries to the living room before falling asleep, but the night didn’t go so smoothly. He appeared at the end of our bed every half hour from 1.30-4.30 until B couldn’t cope anymore and went and slept on the sofa leaving Little B to snuggle in with me.

Wednesday-Little B went straight down and stayed down all night. 7pm-7am. Hip Hip Horray!!

Thursday-This was the first night he had both mummy and daddy at home for bedtime and he was a bit unsure about going down, he wanted to play.  We’d also fallen asleep on the sofa for a bit in the afternoon so bedtime got pushed a little later. It only took two goes to go down and then all the way through to 6.50am.  I did feel like he came in about 4.30am, though I think I must have been dreaming because I never actually saw him-spooky!

Friday-A few tears at bedtime not wanting to go down but second go and he was fast asleep! Exhausted after a day of digging in the greenhouse with nanny. However he was having snuggles with mummy at 5.30am. What happened to lay ins at the weekend hey?!

Saturday-We went to a friends 1st birthday party, lots of running around and cake and as soon as we got home he took himself to bed then came into me at 6.50am. Wow!

I’m hoping we’ve now nailed it…..is that wishful thinking? ……..just in time to move house in 5-6 weeks and throw the little mans idea of security right out the window. I’m a little nervous how he’s going to take the big change.

Knowing Little B, completely in his stride and a whole lot better than me.

Ah it sounds like it is going so well so far- what a clever boy! I was so worried with LL as she is a little monkey, but she hasn’t once tried to get out of bed and has been in it about a month so far! x

It sounds like it’s going well so far! I’ll be doing the same in a few weeks time, Little Man turns two on Sunday and we’re planning his big boy room – complete with single bed. Eeeek! x

Fingers crossed he’s cracked it! I think you’ve made the transition in his timing regardless of the big house move so hopefully that will help when the move does happen – fingers crossed!

Ah, bless him, this is a big milestone. Both of mine moved to beds a month or so after they turned 2, and it does make them seem so much more grown up. But I can assure you, they’ll always need us 🙂 x

It’s crazy to think they are old enough. But it’s cute cod now he’ll just go grab his bedding and chill on the sofa too! And even fall asleep next to me which he never used to do! Another milestone hit! X
